Pull A Shot
An ode to coffee.
For the last year I have been a part-time barista at a specialty coffee shop. I have found incredible joy and fulfillment in my work there. Between being immersed in the art of producing high-quality espresso drinks and the camaraderie built in a fast-paced food service role, I have found a home at Denim Coffee. Every time I clock in I can expect to create something beautiful and continue to deepen my friendships while up to our necks in orders for lattes, smoothies, and breakfast sandwiches. The most tender part of being a barista is that we all take turns arriving and subsequently moving on. I am simply grateful for the time I get to spend turning coworkers into friends before they spread their wings and go on to the next adventure life has in store for them.
And now it is my turn. I am taking time off to pursue my next big creative project: Motherhood.
Begonia
What if a begonia struggled to keep its spots?
I started this personal project after the Procreate Dreams 2 update to test out its new capabilities. The select and transform tools made the biggest difference, and it was exciting to import almost ten years' worth of brushes I collected in Procreate.
Bicycle Trip - (WIP)
What does the rhythm of biking on a summer afternoon feel like?
Bicycle Trip was my first piece in Procreate Dreams when it was released in 2023. I wrestled with the drawing interface, as it was bare-bones draw and erase functions. I ended up drawing each frame in Procreate, which had a stronger toolbox, and importing the frames to Procreate Dreams to arrange them on the timeline. I promised to revisit Procreate Dreams after an update made the drawing interface more accessible.
I would like to bring this project into Procreate Dreams 2 to work on color, now that the interface has been improved.
